Additionally, the DNC has extended its Latino outreach nationwide with a seven-figure investment, implementing bilingual billboards in states like Nevada, further encouraging Latino voter participation.

Texas’ Latino voters, the state’s second-largest voting demographic, are positioned to be pivotal in this election. Polls show a rising preference for Allred among Texas Latinos, with recent data indicating that 51% intend to support him over Cruz. I had the incredible honor of attending and covering DIFF, in a fantastic collaboration with Community Cultivation Network! This independent film festival is a vibrant celebration of creativity, providing invaluable support and opportunities for independent filmmakers and writers to bring their visions to life.

Throughout the event, I met a diverse array of passionate filmmakers and gained insight into their unique journeys, filled with both challenges and triumphs. The DIFF staff were instrumental in creating a warm and engaging atmosphere, expertly managing panel setups and facilitating meaningful discussions between audiences and the directors and producers. It was a true joy to witness the camaraderie and creativity that flourished among attendees!

Held at the remarkable Star Cinema Grill in Richmond, TX, the festival spanned four exciting days from September 26 to September 29. Festival founders Acoryé White and Patrycja Kępa, both talented independent filmmakers and creatives, envisioned a platform where artists of all backgrounds could access financial awards to elevate their projects. Their passion for empowering fellow filmmakers shone through, particularly in the stunning Onyx room, featuring a breathtaking 46-foot wide Samsung Onyx Cinema LED screen—one of only 120 in the world! The quality of this space truly enhanced the emotional depth of the films, demonstrating that independent creators can shine alongside major productions.

“As part of our ongoing mental health efforts, we have been actively looking at areas where we can dele- gate more decision-making authority to the aviation medical examiner (AME) to enable as many pilots as possible leaving the AME’s office with their medical certificate in hand.” These updated health policies added 3 more acceptable anti-depressant medications allowing 8 total different anti-depressant medications acceptable for aviators (website is this link here: bit.ly/3WwO6kJ) 

Additionally, the Aerospace Medical department as allowed Airman Medical Examiners (AMEs) to have more decision-making authority on mental issues that previously required FAA review such as uncomplicated depression and anxiety, alone or together, as
well as OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Moreover, The use of medication to treat depression or anxiety no longer automatically requires an FAA review, even if the person is still in counseling, provided the last usage was at least 2 years ago, as compared to previously being 4 years.

These changes definitely provide a better process for future aviators to enter into the industry, and still better their mental health.

From the opening bell, Santos showcased her striking power and grappling skills, repeatedly thwarting Carmouche’s attempts to control the fight.

The match was a technical chess game, with Carmouche initiating takedowns and Santos defending with precision. In the third round, Carmouche managed to secure a takedown late in the round, but it wasn’t enough to sway the judges in her favor. Santos’ effective counter-striking and resilient defense earned her the win and a chance to compete for the title.

With this victory, Taila Santos moves her professional record to an impressive 22-3. She is set to face the winner of the upcoming bout between Dakota Ditcheva and Jena Bishop for the PFL Women’s Flyweight Title. Santos, who narrowly missed out on a title in 2022, is now one step closer to achieving her long-held goal.

This win solidifies Santos’ status as a top contender in the flyweight division and sets the stage for an electrifying championship fight.
